Casamigos Blanco Tequila is an ultra-premium tequila created by tres amigos George Clooney, Rande Gerber, and Mike Meldman. What do these guys know about tequila, you ask? Plenty, as tonnes of research went into creating the best tasting, smoothest tequilas and mezcal that, as they say, don’t need to be covered up with salt or lime. When you think about it, Casamigos Blanco Tequila’s story makes sense, as tequila is one of those beverages best enjoyed with friends, so when three rather awesome, well-known friends get together to make one, you bet it’s going to be great. As far as white tequila goes, it’s usually just good for shots or hiding behind some strong lime juice in a margarita, but this one actually deserves a chance to be savoured. On the nose, Casamigos Blanco Tequila is bright and herbal, with the earthy aroma of agave, mint, cinnamon, chilli, fresh cut grass, and more herbs, followed by a fresh minerality that, while unexpected, is really nice. On the palate, it’s everything a fine tequila blanco should be—thick and oily, but quickly following are satisfying hints of vanilla, citrus peels, dry oak, more mint, and herbal basil. The finish is smooth, tempering any heat you may feel with fondant-like sweetness. All in all, Casamigos Blanco Tequila definitely deserves its time in the sun, as its high quality puts a spin on what a white tequila should be. Don’t be afraid to mix, however—just keep your mixers high quality. If you’re going to go for a classic margarita, we recommend using fresh limes—why smother a great tequila with some overly-sweet green stuff that comes in a bottle?
