The history, and a unique pronunciation

Pronounced ‘bu-na-ha-venn’ meaning ‘mouth of the river’ in Scottish Galic, bunnahabhain’s single malt scotch is said to have a fair number of unique qualities that make it stand out from the crowd (aside from its rather interesting name.)

It all began in a small village on the northeast coast of the Isle of Islay, where William Robertson and the Greenlees brothers joined forces to establish the Islay Distillers Company. Before long, Bunnahabhain was founded in 1883. Robertson and the Greenlees brothers took inspiration from their seaside surroundings and use of sea trade as a main method of transportation. In fact, it has even been stated that it is the daring spirit behind the brand that has made Bunnahbhain what it is today.

This fine scotch whisky was actually one of the first whiskies crafted by Bunnahabhain and remains to this day one of their greatest. What makes this single malt all the more interesting is its double matured in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks and made with pure spring water- all to give it its wonderful fresh and aromatic flavour.

What’s the Best Bunnahabhain?

A really tough question (because they’re all so delicious) but also because it depends on taste.
