Cardhu’s life started off a little differently than other whiskey brands. It originated from a farm in Scotland where husband and wife, John Cumming and Helen Cumming distilled whiskey without the authorities knowing. Legend says that from living on the top of a hill, Helen could see the authorities coming and would pour flour over herself to hide the smell of the whiskey and tell the story that she was making bread! Twelve years later an alcohol licence was passed.
