Brugal took its first steps in gin production back in 1888 in the Dominican Republic. Even in its infancy, it was breaking down conventions – in 1919 it created the ‘Ligero and Limpio’ purest spirit, the very first Dominican rum that didn’t use Aguardiente. One year on, Brugal crafted its first golden aged rum.
In 2010 the Brugal 1888 was launched: a rum doubled aged in American and Spanish oak casks and the very first Dominican rum produced in this way. The resulting rum is full of vanilla and toffee flavours with accents of cocoa and spice. The Brugal Añejo is matured in medium-toasted oak casks, giving a smooth taste and light woody aromas.
