It's hard not to admire the zero waste ethos of Black Cow and its enterprising spirit (pun intended) – and of course it helps that they make a pretty fine vodka too. Back in 2011, two neighbours in West Dorset decided to put to good use what was left over from cheese-making from grass-grazing cows.
Using the whey, they experimented with a secret distilling process until finally in 2012 they launched the ‘world’s smoothest vodka’ – made from milk! The smooth Black Cow original vodka is now complemented by a very English strawberry edition, a complex and zesty Negroni (combining the vodka with Italian Campari, Spanish vermouth and a blend of bitters) and the festive Christmas spirit – quite literally Christmas pudding in a bottle blended with Black Cow vodka.
