To trace the foundations of the Birra Moretti brand you’d have to head back to 1857 and the sleepy Italian town of Urdine. It was here that the enterprising Luigi Moretti started his beer and ice factory. It was a time of civil unrest but that didn’t stop Luigi from dreaming of building a brewery.
He sold his very first bottle of Birra Moretti in the summer of 1860, although up until the 1990s it remained a Fruili-based beer. Thankfully, in the last decade of the 20th century the authentic Italian lager went national and then international. The hops blend delivers a well-balanced lager with subtle fruity notes, a medium bitterness and a refreshingly clear aftertaste.
