Hard to say, easy to drink - this single malt whisky distillery in the West of Scotland has a reputation for fine whisky with a sweet and delicate nature. The distillery has been producing whisky since its distillery was first built back in 1823 and it’s been turning out bottles ever since – with a break in production as a result of the Second World War.
Its characteristic flavour is as a result of an additional distillation. Unusually for a Scottish producer, Auchentoshan includes a third still, and this combined with the unpeated malt ensures a delicate and sweet tone to the flavour. And finally, in case you’re wondering, the correct pronunciation is ‘Ock-un-tosh-un’. Now you know.
