Ardberg was founded on the southeast coast of the Isle of Islay back in 1815, but it was when the distillery reopened after a brief hiatus in the 1990s that it the brand kickstarted an Islay revival. After several changes of ownerships, it was bought by Glenmorangie who undertook a much-needed restoration of the distillery, transforming it into one of the most iconic Islay peated single malts around.
High profile bottlings include the Supernova series, which commemorated Ardberg’s efforts in sending maturing whisky vials into space; Wee Beastie and Scorch.
