What is Valentine’s Day? To a few it’s overpriced meals, set menus, tacky advertising, and cheap flowers. To others it’s a day of romance, love, fine wine, and champagne, after all its only one day of showing some love to your loved one, or ones in some cases.
For me it is obviously not the latter, rather spend the day in the office with a can of lager by my side and staring at an excel spreadsheet. I mean why go to a restaurant and not being able to order a burger and chips, and instead being made to eat a celery stick garnished with lemon zest, I just don’t get it. Most of it is for schmucks, well 90% is. There is a positive 10%, and that positive 10% is alcohol from The Drinks Basket.
There are some great selections running throughout the month of February, you could use them to compliment, or in commiserate your Valentine’s Day or alternatively use it to spruce up this wintery grey month.
If you are looking for a bottle or two of something you can share with your loved ones for dinner and are feeling prudent because you are unsure of your partners long-term suitability why not go for a zesty and sparkly Santero Prosecco Extra Dry. However if you think they are the next best thing since the end of prohibition, why pull out the Ace card and go for a Armand De Brignac Brut Ace of Spades or a classic mid-level Ruinart Rose. For the more cynical out there please don’t read that as ruin heart as I did, although it will probably end that way.
That’s enough of the romance side for now.
As mentioned above February is more than just a month for romance, it is also a month to end New Year’s resolutions and crack open a bottle of classic gin or fine winter warmer. Why not head down to our website and pick out a special offer or as a matter of fact a special bottle such a Courvoisier XO or a Nikka Whisky Black, all available at The Drinks Basket.
Short and Sweet. Short like the month of February. And sweet like the bottle of wine that I am just about to crack open.
