We’ve all experienced it - there is nothing worse than being in a jam packed tube carriage in the morning with no arm room to even pull out the trusted Bic Biro from your blazer pocket to complete the daily crossword!
So there comes a time where we have to think on our feet….quite literally, to finding ‘fun’ ways to entertain ourselves (no, not like that!) for an hour.
Us human beings, well we’re are competitive bunch on the whole aren’t we?! I’m no different…. Forever trying out-do myself with personal best scores be it Game 1: Guessing the number of seconds it takes for the train to reach each station (rules - 3 points scored if the guess comes in within 5 seconds and 1 point within 10 seconds either way) or Game 2: Naming the tube station 10 stops away from any random station picked out by my eyes on the Zone 1 map!
For Game 1…. Well I think my journey from Pinner to The Drinks Basket Nerve Centre is now mastered with maximum points barring any unforeseen delays like leaves running riot on the track or the 12 legged sea-creature falling ill at the next station because it was struggling for air! However, for Game 2 I’m still not quite there on this challenge – maybe I need to reduce the number of stops from 10 to 5 to give myself a fighting chance!
The tube map is not for all of us – the 2% of the trainspotting population may disagree!
We, the sardines in a tin may want to try this…. It’s a game to last the full week worth of commute…
This A-Z game is easier for me I must admit as I’m surrounded by great drinks at The Drinks Basket every day but should be good fun for you all!
The challenge - You must name a brand starting with each letter of the alphabet for each drink category.
To get you started for Monday morning have this on me...…. Absolut (Vodka)
Monday – Vodkas
Tuesday – Rums
Wednesday – Whiskies
Thursday - Gins
Friday/ ‘Working’ from home – Wines (Red or White)
Saturday and Sunday – Hopefully, by now you’ll have earned yourself a treat and place your next drinks order with The Drinks Basket.
Scoring index per drink category:
0-5 points – Sobering up time – pass me the Alka-Selzer!
6-12 points – you may want to put some egg with in your hangover remedy is it’s not quite over
13-19 points – Lined my stomach with a glass of milk ready for a big night!
20-26 points – Did I hear that champagne cork pop?! Pour yourself some bubbly and one for me!
Let’s hear your scores for each drinks category so we can see who is the real Mastermind of Alcoholic Beverages!
Enlighten us with your fun filled games you can suggest….
