Spring into March...
So I have a smile on my face, January is long gone, and February is nearly out of the system. Roll on the month of March. March for me usually brings in a fair bit of optimism, the days are longer, sunnier and there almost is a taste of summer in the air.
But history warns me never to be too optimistic, the month of March has historically also seen for example the assassination of Julius Caesar, or the Nazi invasion of Czechoslovakia.
Anyway, back to optimism, and therefore straight to our favourite subject, yep you guessed it alcohol. One of the finest things when you get a good bit of sunshine is a proper Traditional Gin and Tonic, made in the honest way using time-honoured ingredients. Why not pick up a bargain Six Ravens London Dry Gin or a classy West Winds The Cutlass Gin with its soothing cinnamon and lemon flavours. And remember to add a Fever Tree mixer to complete the perfect G&T. Or alternatively if like me you’re still fighting that winter cold, then why not go for a soothing Brandy or Cognac. A firm favourite for me is a Lepanto Brandy aged for a tremendous 15 years, with its warm flavours and tantalising nutmeg and elegant finish, or alternatively the Chateau du Breuil Calvados with it’s warm apple flavour and warm notes of vanilla, what else I do like about this is lovely traditional bottle taking you back to a long time ago when the world was a better place. Ok showing my age again.
Also as the climate gets warmer the temptation will be to light up the barbie, and by that I mean a barbeque, not a doll that is bound to intoxicate you with dangerous fumes rather than being intoxicated the right way, i.e. alcohol. For the record local council and pen-pushers of Whitehall, I believe that is a suitable health and safety warning. So back to the barbie, and spring parties, remember here at The Drinks Basket we can cater for all types of parties (alcohol not sausages), and larger the order the more generous we are likely to be, so why not drop us a line or an email with your requirements and we can see what we can do.
Well there you go. It is actually all good. Just probably don’t re-read the opening two paragraphs, from now on we at The Drinks Basket will be sharing that almost here summer vibe, with a spring in our step and a smile on our face, time to really get these summer parties started.
