The Mother’s Day Survival guide 2020
Are you looking for the perfect gift for your mum this mother’s day? Well, circumstances are a little different this year - it’s not like you can take her out for a meal, or a pint down the local pub; well, not without some anxiety at least. So, if going out is not on the agenda for you and your mother this Sunday, then you’ll need something to do, which doesn’t include sending flowers, although we won’t judge you if you do. We’ve got some better ideas for you to enjoy and celebrate this Sunday without having to worry about health warnings.
Without further ado, here’s our mother’s day survival guide ideas for 2020.
Able to Brave the Ourdoors?
Go Exploring - with a Picnic
For those of you who can escape the confines of four walls this mother’s day, please don’t waste it. Head out on a long walk or even a hike. If you’re lucky to live in an area of natural beauty or close by, why don’t you let your inner adventurer out? Book a kayak or rowboat and hit the waters. There’s always something new to see or experience from the water.
But don’t go too crazy, come prepared - prepared with a picnic! Some sandwiches, snacks, antibacterial gel and of course, a special drink. Make the picnic more of an occasion by having the option of a midday tipple of her favourite wine. Want to make something extra special of it all, come equipped with her favourite music so that while you’re out in natures grasp she can enjoy some nostalgia.
Create a Garden for her to Tend
If your mother spends a lot of her time looking for a new hobby, why don’t you give her a hand? Gardening Direct points out that spending time outside can help reduce depression, anger and stress. Furthermore, gardening is good for you as it can help reduce the risk of diseases such as stroke and osteoporosis as well as improving your immune system. Well, obviously they would because gardening is their thing, but they are right. Gardening is one of the best hobbies to take up for a mostly homebound individual, so why not help give the gift of a hobby this mother’s day?
And when you’re done slinging mud, and embedding roots, why not sit back and relax with a cheeky G&T? With cooling cucumber - a garden inspiration in itself.
Indoor Activities
Cook or Bake Together
There’s nothing better than baking a tasty treat for you and the family to enjoy. Whether you’re only ready for fairy cakes or have more baking skills than we do and are prepared to take on something far more challenging like a simnel cake or a red velvet cake.
We’d just heavily advise that you consider adding a drop of baileys to any chocolate-based cake, you know, for the added taste, not because you’ve been around your mum all day.
Send A Mother’s Day Gift Box
At a time where we're thinking about the needs of everyone - give your mum the gift of giving. Currently, Unicef is offering Mother's day gift boxes. These exclusive little bundles come with a unique gift and card for that special lady alongside a donation to those in need. What more could you want? And of course, you won't have to deliver this personally, so it worked out great for those who aren't able to get out
Create A Self Care Package
Right now, Bookblock is offering their own little gift boxes. Sweet right? You can decide what goes in. Why not take the opportunity to create your mother a self-care package?
We can't guarantee soap will still be in stock if you're leaving it late, but hey! We could be wrong!
Clean her Whole House
Now more than ever, your mum might appreciate a hand with cleaning her entire house - just saying. We know this isn’t for the faint-hearted, but it’s the gift that could keep on giving this year. Peace of mind alongside an ability to be able to sit back, relax and know they’re in good company and a pair of safe, clean hands might be all your mum wants this year.
So, get the rubber gloves on and hop to it! Don’t forget under the stairs. When it’s all over, you can both sit and enjoy some food and a favourite beverage. If it took you a lot longer than you hoped to get that toilet bowl clean, we’ve got something to help you forget that by the morning - check out our spirits range.
