Asbach Original Uralt Old Brandy is a German classic with a particular popularity in the UK. Made in the same Rhein distillery since 1892, Asbach Original Uralt Old Brand is one of the brand’s best-selling formulas, and a great way to get acquainted with traditional brandy. It’s made from a combination of up to 25 different grape distillations, carefully distilled in copper stills to ensure the delicate aromas inherent to the wines are preserved into the distillate. After distillation, Asbach Original Uralt Old Brandy begins its famed maturation process, which takes place in a special maturation cellar near the Black Forest. The formula is carefully aged in small casks made from Limousin oak, and left for far longer than what’s required by law in order to develop its characteristic topaz colour and unmistakable bouquet of aromas. The minimum three-year age of Asbach Original Uralt Old Brandy gives it an elegant nose of vine and spicy notes, complemented by hints of oaky wood and cocoa. The palate is full-bodied and vinous, bringing both the sweetness of grapes and the spiciness of the oak wood for an overall warming, luxurious mouthfeel. The smoky finish is accented by dry, earthy notes of cocoa and stimulating tannins.
